The Shape of Waves to Come
March 29, 2020
Ocean energy exploding at Matakana Island
The waffle-like swell refraction caused by Rabbit Island at Banks Ave in the Mount.
I waited months for the best day to capture this. All the elements had to align:
perfect lighting, strong northeast swell and ideal offshore southwest winds.
The perfect form of a Matakana Island wave — a pretty good reason why no one
seems to be at work around here when the swell is up.
