The New Kid

A freshly painted yellow exterior has signaled the arrival of Special Mention at the former OBR
site in Arataki. Lex and Hollie Mawson (pictured right, with daughter Maggie) are the team behind
the new venture. Lex already has a legion of fans from his BBL (Burger By Lex) pop-ups, and
Special Mention will now be the site for all further BBL action. The initial daytime menu features
a kicking Japanese-influenced avo on toast with soured cucumber; pistachio, seaweed and sesame crumb, and ramen egg with ponzu sauce, but you can just order a classic B&E along with your Supreme coffee. The welcoming room has timber tables, blue banquettes and colours of peach,
red and brick. Evening openings are coming soon.
