Ozi Ozaa is a 10-piece original afro funk band, led by Yaw Asumadu, a master drummer, composer, African flautist, bass guitarist and xylophone player. The good news? They’re about to hit Totara St. Yaw has performed with the likes of Oren Marshall, Michael Jackson, Tunde Jegede and Andy Summers (Police). He formed Ozi Ozaa in London in 2008 and was a key player in the Afrobeat scene, he moved to Aotearoa in 2018 and, after meeting local guitarist Tristan Hancock, has formed
a new band. The new Ozi Ozaa is packed full of percussion and jazzy horns playing sweet highlife and trad African beats.
